Set Liftmaster Garage Door Remote

Materials You'll Need:

Liftmaster garage door remote
Garage door opener
Phillips screwdriver (optional)

Step 1: Locate the Learn Button

Find the "Learn" button on your garage door opener. It usually has a small LED light next to it and may be labeled "Smart Button" or "Program" button.

Step 2: Clear Existing Codes

To ensure a successful pairing, clear any existing codes from your garage door opener. Refer to your specific garage door opener manual for instructions on how to do this.

Step 3: Press the Learn Button

Locate the "Learn" button and press and hold it for about 2 seconds. The LED light should begin flashing to indicate that the opener is in "programming mode." If it does not flash, release the button and wait 5 seconds before trying again.

Step 4: Press the Remote Button

Within 30 seconds of pressing the "Learn" button on the opener, press the button on your Liftmaster garage door remote that you want to program. The LED light on the opener should stop flashing and remain solid.

Step 5: Repeat for Additional Remotes

If you have multiple remotes to program, repeat steps 3-4 for each remote. Ensure that you press the "Learn" button on the opener within 30 seconds of pressing the button on each remote.

Step 6: Test the Remote

Once all remotes are programmed, press the button on the remote to open and close the garage door. If the door responds as expected, the programming was successful.

Step 7: Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues during the programming process, try the following:

Ensure the batteries in the remote are fresh.
Try a different remote button.
Clear the existing codes and start the programming process again.
Check that the antenna on the garage door opener is not obstructed.
