Rollers

Cables

Cables are attached to the springs and run over pulleys to the bottom of the garage door. They help to distribute the load and ensure the door moves smoothly and evenly. Cables should be inspected regularly for wear and replaced if necessary.

Hinges

Hinges connect the door panel to the vertical tracks. They allow the door to pivot as it moves up and down. Hinges can be made from steel, plastic, or nylon and are designed to withstand constant use.

Weatherstripping

Weatherstripping seals the gaps around the door panel and opening to prevent air, water, and pests from entering the garage. It is typically made from rubber, vinyl, or foam and helps to improve energy efficiency and reduce noise.

Operator

The operator is the electrical component that opens and closes the garage door. It can be controlled manually with a wall-mounted keypad or remotely with a transmitter, smartphone app, or voice assistant. Operators come in various types, including belt drive, chain drive, and direct drive, offering different levels of performance and noise.

Sensors

Safety sensors are installed near the bottom of the door opening to detect obstacles in the path of the door. If an obstacle is detected, the sensors send a signal to the operator to stop or reverse the door's movement, preventing potential accidents.

Other Components

In addition to the main parts mentioned above, residential garage doors may also include additional components such as insulation, windows, decorative hardware, and backup batteries to ensure operation in the event of a power outage.
