How To Reset Garage Door Sensors

Garage door sensors are an important part of your home's security system. They help to prevent the door from opening if something is blocking its path, such as a car or a person. If your garage door sensors are not working properly, it can be a major inconvenience. Fortunately, resetting them is a relatively simple process. Here are the steps on how to do it:

1. Locate the sensors.
The sensors are usually located on either side of the garage door, about 6 inches from the ground. They are small, white boxes with a light on the front.

2. Check the batteries.
The first thing you should do is check the batteries in the sensors. If the batteries are dead, the sensors will not work. To replace the batteries, simply remove the cover of the sensor and replace the old batteries with new ones.

3. Clean the sensors.
If the batteries are not dead, the next thing you should do is clean the sensors. Dirt and debris can build up on the sensors over time, which can prevent them from working properly. To clean the sensors, simply wipe them down with a clean cloth.

4. Realign the sensors.
If the sensors are still not working properly, you may need to realign them. To do this, simply loosen the screws that hold the sensors in place and move them until the light on the front of the sensors turns green.

5. Test the sensors.
Once you have realigned the sensors, test them to make sure they are working properly. To do this, simply open and close the garage door a few times. The light on the front of the sensors should turn green when the door is closed and red when the door is open.
