How To Change Garage Door Keypad

The garage door keypad is a convenient way to open and close your garage door without having to use a key, but what do you do if the keypad stops working? Replacing a garage door keypad is a fairly simple project that you can do yourself in a few hours. Here are the steps on how to change a garage door keypad:

1. Gather your tools and materials. You will need the following tools and materials to change your garage door keypad:

New garage door keypad
Phillips head screwdriver
Flat head screwdriver
Wire strippers
Electrical tape

2. Remove the old keypad. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the screws that hold the old keypad in place. Once the screws are removed, you should be able to pull the old keypad away from the garage door. 3. Disconnect the old keypad. Use a flat head screwdriver to disconnect the wires from the old keypad. The wires are usually held in place by small screws. Once the wires are disconnected, you can remove the old keypad completely. 4. Install the new keypad. Position the new keypad over the hole in the garage door. Use the Phillips head screwdriver to insert the screws that hold the new keypad in place. 5. Connect the new keypad. Use the wire strippers to strip about 1/2 inch of insulation from the end of each wire. Twist the exposed wires together and then wrap them with electrical tape. Connect the wires to the terminals on the new keypad, making sure that the positive wire is connected to the positive terminal and the negative wire is connected to the negative terminal.

6. Test the new keypad. Once the new keypad is connected, press the buttons to make sure that it is working properly. If the keypad is not working, check the connections to make sure that they are secure.
