Genie Garage Door Opener Change Battery

A Genie garage door opener is a convenient way to open and close your garage door without having to get out of your car. However, like all batteries, the battery in your Genie garage door opener will eventually need to be replaced. Here are the steps on how to change the battery in a Genie garage door opener:

Locate the battery. The battery is usually located on the back of the motor unit. It is a 12-volt battery, and it is typically black or gray in color.
Disconnect the power. Before you begin working on the battery, it is important to disconnect the power to the garage door opener. You can do this by unplugging the power cord from the outlet.
Remove the battery cover. The battery cover is usually held in place by a few screws. Remove the screws and lift off the cover.
Disconnect the battery terminals. The battery terminals are the two metal connectors that are attached to the battery. Use a wrench or pliers to loosen the nuts that hold the terminals in place, and then disconnect the terminals from the battery.
