Garage Door Roller Came Off Track
If your garage door roller has come off track, don't panic. It's a relatively easy fix that you can do yourself with a few simple tools.
1. Gather your tools. You will need a ladder, a screwdriver, and a pair of pliers.
2. Position the ladder. Place the ladder in front of the garage door, on the side where the roller came off track.
3. Locate the roller. The roller is located on the bottom of the garage door, near the edge. It is attached to the door with a bracket.
4. Remove the bracket. Use the screwdriver to remove the screws that hold the bracket in place.
5. Lift the door. With one hand, lift the garage door slightly. With your other hand, guide the roller back onto the track.
6. Reattach the bracket. Once the roller is back on the track, reattach the bracket with the screws.
7. Test the door. Open and close the garage door to make sure that the roller is working properly.
Tips:
- If the roller is badly damaged, you may need to replace it. New rollers are available at most hardware stores.
- If you are not comfortable fixing the roller yourself, you can call a garage door repair technician.
- To prevent the roller from coming off track again, make sure that the door is properly aligned and that the tracks are clean and free of debris.
- If you notice any other problems with your garage door, such as a broken spring or a faulty opener, do not attempt to repair it yourself. Call a qualified technician for assistance.
