Opening A Garage Door Manually

Garage doors are a convenient way to open and close your garage, but what happens if the power goes out or the door opener breaks? Fortunately, most garage doors can be opened manually. Here are the steps on how to open a garage door manually:

1. Locate the manual release cord. The manual release cord is usually located near the center of the garage door, hanging down from the track. It may be red or yellow, and it will have a handle or loop on the end.

2. Pull the manual release cord. Once you have located the manual release cord, pull it down firmly. This will disengage the door from the opener and allow you to open it manually.

3. Lift the garage door. Once the door is disengaged from the opener, you can lift it up by hand. The door will be heavy, so you may need to use both hands.

4. Hold the door open. Once the door is open, you will need to hold it open with one hand while you close the manual release cord with the other hand.

5. Close the manual release cord. Once the manual release cord is closed, the door will be locked in the open position.

6. Close the garage door. To close the garage door, simply lower it down by hand. Make sure to keep a hand on the door to prevent it from slamming shut.

7. Lock the garage door. Once the door is closed, you can lock it by turning the manual release cord to the "locked" position.
