How To Open Garage Without Power

When the power goes out, one of the most frustrating things is not being able to open your garage door. If your garage door is automatic, you may think you're out of luck. However, there are several ways to open a garage door without power. Here are a few methods you can try:

1. Manual Release Cord

Most automatic garage doors have a manual release cord that you can pull to open the door. This cord is usually located near the motor unit. To use the manual release cord, simply pull the cord down and then lift the garage door open.

2. Keypad

Some garage doors have a keypad that you can use to enter a code to open the door. If your garage door has a keypad, you can simply enter the code and then press the "Open" button. It is recommended to have a backup battery for your keypad in case of a power outage.

3. Battery Backup

If your garage door has a battery backup, you can use the battery to open the door. To use the battery backup, simply press the "Battery Backup" button on the motor unit. The garage door will then open using the battery power.

4. Pull the Emergency Release Handle

If your garage door does not have a manual release cord, keypad, or battery backup, you can try pulling the emergency release handle. The emergency release handle is usually located on the inside of the garage door. To pull the emergency release handle, simply reach up and pull the handle down. The garage door will then open manually.

5. Use a Screwdriver

If you cannot pull the emergency release handle, you can try using a screwdriver to open the garage door. To do this, insert the screwdriver into the small hole on the outside of the garage door. Then, turn the screwdriver until the door opens.

6. Call a Locksmith

If you are unable to open your garage door using any of the methods above, you can call a locksmith. A locksmith will be able to open your garage door quickly and easily.
