How To Build A Workbench For Garage

A workbench is an essential piece of furniture for any garage, but it can be expensive to buy one that's made well and will last. If you're handy with tools, you can build your own workbench for a fraction of the cost of buying one. Here are the steps on how to build a workbench for garage:

Step 1: Gather Your Materials

You will need the following materials to build a workbench:

2x4 lumber (for the frame and legs)
3/4-inch plywood (for the top)
1/2-inch plywood (for the shelves)
Wood screws
Nails
Sandpaper
Wood stain or paint (optional)

Step 2: Cut the Lumber

Cut the 2x4 lumber to the following lengths:

4 pieces at 30 inches long (for the legs)
2 pieces at 48 inches long (for the front and back rails)
2 pieces at 24 inches long (for the side rails)

Cut the 3/4-inch plywood to the following size:

1 piece at 48 inches by 24 inches (for the top)

Cut the 1/2-inch plywood to the following sizes:

2 pieces at 48 inches by 12 inches (for the shelves)

Step 3: Assemble the Frame

Assemble the frame of the workbench by attaching the legs to the front and back rails using wood screws. Make sure that the legs are flush with the bottom of the rails.

Attach the plywood top to the frame using wood screws. Countersink the screws so that they are flush with the surface of the top.
